Sunjin Pak

Welcome to my webpage! I'm currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the School of Business and Public Administration, California State University, Bakersfield. I've been a part of this esteemed institution since August 2022, and it has been an incredible journey since then.

Following my B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Korea University in 2009, I worked as an Automation Engineer at Hyundai Motor Company until 2012. My role in designing automated production facilities allowed me to gain extensive management insights, including operational management, ergonomics, and global HR training. This comprehensive exposure sparked my interest in management, propelling me to earn an M.S. degree in Management from Korea University and a Ph.D. in Human Resources Management and Labor Relations from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Immediately following my doctoral studies, I served as a faculty member at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania from August 2019 until August 2022. During this period, I had the enriching experience of teaching and mentoring a diverse student body, while also collaborating with colleagues equally passionate about education.

I also have military experience, having served in the Republic of Korea Marine Corps as a Sergeant between 2003 and 2005. During this period, I had the opportunity to participate in joint operations with the U.S. Marine Corps. This experience helped me build discipline that I carry with me to this day.

My journey in academia and my industry experience has significantly shaped my research interests. You can find more about my research work and publications on my research page and my Google Scholar.

I look forward to engaging with students, colleagues, and other visitors to this page, as we explore and learn together. Thank you for stopping by!
